TURKMENISTAN AND THE UNFPA EXCHANGED VIEWS ON EXPANSION OF MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL COOPERATION

Today, on December 10, the negotiations were held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with Acting Regional Director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) for countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Julia Valese, who came to Turkmenistan for participation in the International Conference “Peace and Trust Policy – Basis of International Security, Stability and Development”.

The parties noted high level of collaboration between Turkmenistan and UNFPA. In this context, the fruitfulness of the joint actions aimed at all-round implementation of the Fourth Country Program for the period of 2021-2025 was underlined. As is known, active participation of the UN Population Fund in promoting the issues of safe motherhood, protection of reproductive health, gender development made it possible to gain significant success in these spheres.

In her turn, J.Valese, having congratulated the leadership and the peoples of Turkmenistan with the Neutrality Day, highlighted relevance of the current International Forum in the light of strengthening of the culture of peace and trust in regional and international formats.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan has good examples for demonstration of political obligations in the field of health protection, youth support and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for men and women.

The signing in the framework of the International Conference annual working plans of UNFPA with some ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan is another example of the effectiveness of multilateral interaction.
