PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK OF THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN “ASHGABAT - THE WHITE CITY” IN RUSSIAN

On the 22nd of May 2021, the presentation of the new book of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Ashgabat - The White City” published in Russian language was held in the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was held upon the initiative of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan.

The Presentation was attended by the rectors, faculty members and students of the intuitions of higher education of the country, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations in Turkmenistan, as well as the representatives of mass media.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov gave a speech at the event. It was stated that the capital of neutral Turkmenistan symbolizes the large-scale achievements attained by the country during the years of independence, as well as the positive energy of the Turkmen people.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Aleksandr Blokhin, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalya Gherman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Turkmenistan Matthew Stephen Klimov, Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Christine Weigand, Rector of the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli Bayramgyul Orazdurdiyeva, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan Farrukh Homiddin Sharifzoda also gave speeches at the event.

The participants of the presentation noted that the publication of the book “Ashgabat - The White City” in Russian language provides an opportunity for a wide audience to get acquainted with the important moments of the history of Ashgabat, allows to better appraise the unique beauty and architectural peculiarities of the city, as well as to glance at the future of the capital of Turkmenistan. 

It was underlined that today’s presentation proves the strengthening of Turkmen-Russian cooperation that has a strategic importance, including the opportunities for further development of partnership in political-diplomatic, economic and humanitarian spheres.

In the end of the event, the participants of the presentation adopted an Address to the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
