PRESENTATION OF THE PLAN FOR PREPAREDNESS FOR COUNTERACTION AND RESPONSE OF TURKMENISTAN TO ACUTE INFECTIOUS DISEASE

On May 21, 2021, the Presentation of the Plan for Preparedness for Counteraction and Response of Turkmenistan to an Acute Infectious Disease, adopted on April 16 of this year, was held at the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy and a number of other ministries and institutions of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of international organizations in Turkmenistan.

During the event, Representatives of the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan made a presentation of the above Plan.

The presentation was made by the Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Ch. Agamyradov, acting UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan K. Weigand, EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso, Charge D’Affaires a.i. of Japan to Turkmenistan K. Shunsuke, Head of the Office of the Asian Development Bank in Turkmenistan Xi Xi Yu and others.

The participants got acquainted with the tasks of the Plan and discussed the ways of their implementation.

The speakers highlighted the main goals of the Plan as countering the spread of the disease, maintaining the pace of socio-economic development of the country during a pandemic, ensuring a high level and modernizing the material and technical base of the healthcare system to combat COVID, and introducing international best practices. Particular attention was paid to strengthening research activities together with international and regional partners, broad practical implementation of innovative approaches and digital technologies.
